Number portability

Port your number out of VocUI.

You can transfer (port) any VocUI phone number to a different carrier and keep using it. We honor every valid port-out request — your number is yours.

This page covers what to expect, what your new carrier will need, and how to request the account-specific information for the port.

1

Choose your new carrier first.

Sign up with the carrier you want to move to (Twilio, Bandwidth, OpenPhone, Aircall, another business line, your mobile carrier — anyone who supports number portability). They will start the port on your behalf — you don't request the port from VocUI directly. Do not cancel your VocUI subscription before the port completes; an active account is required for the transfer.

2

Give your new carrier the port-in details.

Your new carrier will ask for these. You request them from us by emailing [email protected] with the phone number(s) you want to port.

  • Phone number(s) in E.164 format

e.g. +14155551234. The exact number(s) you want to port.

  • Account number

Your VocUI account number for porting purposes — we’ll send this.

  • Account PIN / passcode

Required by most carriers. We issue a one-time port-out PIN on request.

  • Address of record (AOR)

The billing address registered against the number — we’ll confirm what we have on file.

  • Authorized name on the account

Must match the name on your VocUI account or your business legal name.

  • Carrier identifier (OCN / SPID)

Some carriers ask for the losing carrier’s OCN. We’ll provide this with your port-out packet.

3

Sign and submit the LOA.

Your new carrier will give you a Letter of Authorization (LOA) — a one-page form authorizing the port. Sign it and return it to them. They'll submit the port request to our upstream carrier.

4

Wait for the port to complete.

US/Canada local numbers: typically 2–7 business days. Toll-free: 5–10 business days. International: varies by country, often 2–4 weeks.

Calls and SMS continue to route to VocUI until the port cuts over. Once the new carrier confirms completion, the number leaves VocUI automatically — no action needed on your end.

Cancelling soon? Start the port first.

After your subscription ends we hold your number for 30 days, then it's released back to the carrier pool — at that point we can no longer port it. Begin the port with your new carrier before the 30-day window closes.

Request your port-out packet

Email [email protected] from the email on your VocUI account with:

  • The phone number(s) you want to port (E.164 format)
  • The name of the new carrier
  • Whether you need a port-out PIN issued

We'll respond within one business day with your account number, a one-time PIN, the address of record we have on file, and our upstream carrier’s OCN — the full packet your new carrier needs to submit the port.
