Common questions about Managed SMS

Do I need a Twilio account to use Managed SMS?

No. VocUI owns the Telnyx relationship and handles everything — carrier registration, number provisioning, billing. You get a number and start sending. If you already pay Twilio, BYOC Twilio is still supported as a separate path.

How long does US 10DLC take?

Brand approval typically arrives in 1–3 business days and campaign approval in 24–48 hours after that. You can provision a UK or Canada number in parallel and start sending internationally immediately while the US registration runs in the background.

Can I port my existing phone number?

Managed SMS provisions new numbers only. If you need to port an existing number you own, use the BYOC Twilio path instead — it supports number porting through the Twilio Console.

What happens if I cancel the add-on?

Your number is released at the end of the current billing period. Opt-out records (STOP list) are preserved for compliance. If you resubscribe later, you will need to pick a new number.

Can I send to countries other than US, UK, and Canada?

Not through Managed SMS right now. Those three countries are the only supported destinations. For wider geographic coverage, use BYOC Twilio, which works anywhere Twilio sells numbers.

How do overages work?

After your 250 included outbound messages, you pay per segment: $0.015 for US and Canada, $0.095 for international destinations. A typical short reply is one segment; messages over 160 plain characters (or 70 with emoji) count as two or more. Inbound messages are always free. There is no hard cap, though the international circuit breaker will flag unusual spikes.
